The press release says the majority will be the “sporty” CVT that somehow is sporty because of a simulated first gear (?) and simulated gear s so I have no idea. Because most other companies think starting in a simulated second gear is sporty.

The CVT used in the Corolla actually has a physical fixed ratio first gear. It's effectively a two speed automatic transmission were second gear is a CVT. It eliminates the weird slippy feeling that CVTs have on take off.
